WITS University invites Expressions of Interest (EoI) for the development of the Frankenwald Estate in accordance with a hold and develop strategy, the outright sale of the land or a combination thereof. The Frankenwald Estate (Buccleugh Ext 2 on Portion 5 (a portion of Portion 1) Bergvlei 37 IR) is an undeveloped tract of land measuring 290,69 hectares, which has town planning and development rights. It lies to the North of the Marlboro Gauteng Train Station between the M1 motorway and the N3 Eastern Bypass in Buccleugh, Sandton.

The purpose of this call for an expression of interest is to initiate a process to determine which of the options, based on the submissions received, the University will pursue (i.e the development of the property in terms of a hold and develop strategy, an outright sale of the land or a combination thereof). A decision may be taken to sell the land outright at the outset or to identify a short list of a limited number of respondents who will be invited to participate in a competitive procurement process to shape and implement a hold and development strategy, with or without the partial sale of the land, and to identify the developer/s with whom the University will work. A final decision on whether or not to sell the land may only be taken after the submission of best and final offers associated with the competitive procurement process is received.

The University is seeking and outcome or alternatively a combination of outcomes, which enables the University to satisfy its strategic and sustainability objectives. The University reserves the right not to accept any of the proposals submitted and re-advertise without delay in the event of unsatisfactory responses received.
