Tender notice and invitation to tender

Mintek, on behalf of the Department of Mineral Resources, is in the process of rehabilitating several abandoned mines around the country.

In this regard, Mintek invites tenderers for the Rehabilitation of the Tweefontein Asbestos Mine which is situated in Limpopo.

Only Bidders with a Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) category and classification grading 7CE PE or higher will be considered for award.

Queries relating to this tender must be addressed in writing to: tenders@mintek.co.za or using the dedicated submit query button accessible on the online tender box. All tender enquiries must be submitted in a written format. Closing date for tender/technical queries is 13th January 2021.

Mintek will be closed from the 18th December 2020 to 11th January 2020. There will be no responses to queries during the time.

A compulsory briefing session and site visit will take place on the 10th December 2020, 10h00 at Mogalakwena Local Municipality, 54 Retief Street, Mokopane, 0600 in the Waterberg District Municipality of Limpopo Province.  Latitude: -23° 49' 59.99" S Longitude: 28° 39' 59.99" E

All contractors will be subjected to screening at the venue before entering the briefing session. The screening will comprise of the completion of COVID 19 questionnaires and taking of temperature. Anyone screened who displays a temperature of 37.5 or higher will not be allowed on the premises and site. Tenderers are advised that only one representative for each tendering entity should attend this brief as to adhere to the maximum of 50% of the capacity of the venue as per COVID-19 regulation.  

A second briefing session may be arranged on the day if the number of attendees exceed the maximum capacity. Tenderers are urged to arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes before the briefing time.

A compulsory site inspection will take place after the briefing session on the 10th December 2020 at Tweefontein Asbestos Mine. Tenderers should set aside the full day for this purpose.

Tenders are to be submitted online using the Online Tender Box that is located on the Tender Notice Page where procurement documentation is downloaded. Detailed instructions for online submission are published on the Online Tender Box.  The closing time for the receipt of tenders is 12h00 on 15th January 2021.

Telegraphic, telephonic, telex, facsimile, e-mail, physical and late tenders will not be accepted.

Tenders may only be submitted on the tender documentation that is issued. Requirements for sealing, addressing, delivery, opening and assessment of tenders are stated in the Tender Data.

Bidders should ensure that bids are submitted timeously to the correct portal. Late bids will be rejected. If the bid is late, it will not be accepted for consideration. Bids delivered in any method other than through the method stipulated, will be rejected.

A non-refundable fee of R500.00 (Payment for tender participation) is payable either by bank deposit or electronic Fund Transfer.

All bidders must include with bid submission proof of payment when submitting their tenders.
