MINTEK Analytical Services Division (ASD) specialises in the analysis of elements to internal and external clients, covering a wide range of geological, metallurgical and environmental applications. The objective of the tender is to procure the X-ray Fluorescence Portable device for scanning of samples which are submitted for analysis at ASD. The samples which are submitted at ASD are complex in nature. Metallurgical samples which have been processed at Mintek vary in composition leading to analysis using a minimum of three methods. For normal geochemical samples from mining the matrix depended on mineral ore i.e. the source of samples. Samples with high silica require addition treatment due to incomplete dissolution of normal process, this process is detected once the samples have been prepared, which then require alternative method and causes delay.
